The rule is to cut losses short but let profits run.
– Charles Dow, 1920

Although he never served as a chief executive officer or built an empire from scratch, Charles Dow’s name is forever entwined with the world of finance, thanks to the market average that bears his name. However, Dow’s contribution goes far beyond his famous average. He was motivated by a desire to open the world of high finance up to the everyday public.

Rick Patrick

Rick Patrick at Sowell Advisors offers a boutique experience for investors unconstrained by hierarchy, commission-based investment solutions, or has disparate business lines that could lead to a loss of vision in helping investors succeed. He uses Sowell Management personnel and other trusted sources to form a team approach. His mission is to achieve an unequaled standard of excellence by providing comprehensive wealth management and customized investment consulting to clients to assist them in making educated, intelligent financial decisions. He provides competent and unbiased investment advice, acting purely as an advocate for his clients, and prices the service fairly.

Rick utilizes technical analysis tools to cut through the clutter of day-to-day market action, identifying meaningful patterns in daily share price movements. These can be applied at the country, sector, or individual share level and across various asset classes. The goal, always, is to manage risk and concentrate investments in those market areas with the highest probabilities for future out-performance. Pillars of this approach include Relative Strength, Top-Down Approach, Offense or Defense, and Technical Market Indicators.

In addition to utilizing state-of-the-art resources such as Dorsey Write, IBD, First Trust, and Sowell Management’s Compliance and back-office functionality, Rick provides the following to his clients:

  • Professional management— working as a “fiduciary,” we place your goals and needs first and foremost and always disclose potential conflicts of interest
  • Personalized strategies— investment asset allocation geared to meet your specific needs and financial goals, built individually to help you meet our specific requirements for growth, income, and preservation of capital
  • Comprehensive communications and quarterly performance reporting— direct contact with us whenever needed. You will receive complete documentation of your account and timely reporting results
  • Open access to investment opportunities— we seek out the best investments to fulfill your goals and lifestyle
