Bill Sowell – Founder & Chief Strategy Officer
Bill began his career in the financial services industry in 1990 and quickly became a top producer. In 1995, he launched a fee-only practice that would later become Sowell Management—one of the early pioneers in the independent, fee-only advisory space. Today, the firm supports a broad spectrum of IARs and RIAs nationwide. For more than two decades, Bill and his wife, Cindy, have worked side by side, helping shape the firm’s culture, values, and commitment to service.
As Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Bill focuses on the firm’s long-term strategic direction, including inorganic growth initiatives, partnerships, and acquisitions that strengthen the Sowell platform and expand opportunity for advisors and their clients. This role reflects a thoughtful evolution in leadership and allows Bill to dedicate his experience and perspective to guiding the firm’s next phase of growth.
Bill has deep roots in the community and a longstanding commitment to service. He has served as past president of the Rotary Club of Little Rock, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, and as past chair and board member of Leadership Greater Little Rock. He has also served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations.
In recognition of his leadership and impact, Bill was named Arkansas Business Executive of the Year (2020), honored by AY Magazine as a Man of Distinction (2021), and recognized by AMP as an Arkansas Visionary(2024).
Known as a bridge builder throughout the industry, Bill is passionate about helping advisors envision an independent and prosperous future—and guiding them through every stage of that journey. Outside of work, Bill enjoys golfing, boating, and duck hunting, and values time spent with family and friends.
